Posted on WALDORF, Md. (June 23, 2009) –- The Charles County administrator, Paul W. Comfort, was terminated today effective July 3, according to a statement released today by the Board of County Commissioners. The commissioners did not provide a reason for the termination, other than saying they exercised their "option to terminate the County Administrator’s at-will employment with the County, in accordance with the County Administrator’s Terms of Appointment." Assistant to the County Administrator Roy E. Hancock will serve as Acting County Administrator until a successor is chosen by the commissioners. Comfort originally assumed the helm from Hancock on May 22, 2007. Hancock had then been serving as interim county administrator since October 2005.
